Barndominium Builders in Lakewood, Colorado

City of Lakewood Public Works, Building Department (Permitting Services)
For land inside Lakewood city limits, the city's Public Works building department takes permit applications and contractor registration through its online eTRAKiT system and carries out inspections. It publishes a separate submittal checklist for new single-family homes. Land outside the city, even with a Lakewood mailing address, may be unincorporated Jefferson County instead.

- Lakewood's building department lists the 2021 International Residential, Building and Energy Conservation Codes and the 2023 National Electrical Code, each with local amendments, for applications made after July 1, 2023. The amendments sit in Title 14 of the Lakewood Municipal Code.

- The City of Lakewood's codes and loads handout sets a 30 psf non-reducible ground snow load and a 30 psf minimum roof snow/live load for buildings inside the city.
